Gold and silver electroplating of liturgical vessels and silverware

Gold and silver electroplating of liturgical vessels and silverware

Electroplating applies a durable precious-metal coating using an electrolytic process. It is what brings back the deep, even shine of liturgical vessels and silverware.

Gold plating

We apply gold mainly inside the cup of the chalice and ciborium — a liturgical requirement — as well as on decorative elements. The electroplated layer is durable, even and faithfully follows the detail of the surface.

Silver plating

Silver plating restores the appearance of table silver and functional pieces: cutlery, trays, candlesticks. Re-silvering removes the effects of a worn, dull coating and protects the object for years.

Rhodium plating

Rhodium is a platinum-group metal — a hard, bright coating resistant to tarnishing. Rhodium plating is used where a cool lustre and exceptional durability are required.

Why electroplating matters

The right process and coating thickness determine how long the result lasts. We run our own electroplating facility, so we control quality at every stage — from chalice restoration to conservation of family silver.
