Silver and gold hallmarks — what 925, 585 and 750 mean

A hallmark is the content of pure precious metal in an alloy. Here are the key markings.

925 silver

925 silver (sterling) is 92.5% pure silver — the standard for silver jewelry.

Gold hallmarks

585 gold is 14 carat (58.5%), 750 is 18 carat (75%). A higher hallmark = more gold and a higher price.

Why it matters

The hallmark affects quality, durability and price. In our silver production we use 925.
